Super Duplex Steel UNS S32750 Welded Pipes combine roughly 25% chromium, 7% nickel, and 4% molybdenum in a microstructure that outperforms standard 300-series stainless steel in chloride-rich service. Known globally as 2507 or 1.4410, this grade serves offshore platforms, seawater systems, and chemical processing lines.
These pipes carry the UNS S32750 designation, also sold as SAF 2507 or grade F53. A duplex microstructure splits roughly evenly between austenite and ferrite, giving close to double the yield strength of conventional austenitic stainless steel, at a minimum of 550 MPa. Nitrogen near 0.25–0.3% pushes the Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number above 40.
Yield strength holds at 550 MPa minimum, nearly twice that of a 316L pipe at the same wall thickness. PREN above 40 gives S32750 pitting and crevice corrosion resistance beyond standard duplex 2205. Critical pitting temperature stays above 50°C, a margin that matters in warm seawater intake lines.
Manufacturing starts with a straight-seam or spiral weld joining plate or coil stock, followed by solution annealing at 1050–1100°C to dissolve secondary phases. A rapid water quench locks in the balanced austenite-ferrite ratio before final sizing. Welding under ASTM A928 runs without filler metal on select thicknesses, while heavier sections use matching filler.
Each heat is chemically tested to verify chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen are within specification, as tiny shifts might drop the PREN value below 40. Ferrite check, hydro test, radiographic weld inspection according to ASTM A790 & A928. Third-party inspection is available through SGS, BV or TUV on request.
Pipes have end caps to keep weld bevels clean in transit, and bundling and hardwood crating suitable for sea or air freight. Each shipment is documented with heat-specific mill certificates, and delivery deadlines are coordinated against offshore and refinery project schedules.
